Understanding the Intersectionality of Trauma and Suicide in African Americans is a professional development workshop for LPCs, ALCs, Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists, School Counselors, and other Social Service Providers. Providing 4.5 NBCC approved contact hours, 4.5 Social Work CEUs approved contact hours.

Workshop Objectives:

  • Provide updated knowledge and statistics in trauma and suicide in African Americans
  • Address critical areas in cultural competency
  • Research needs and service gaps
  • Improve clinical assessment skills relative to traumatized clients of African Descent
  • Enhance clinical skills in the assessment of African American clients presenting with suicidal ideations as well as victims of trauma
  • Assist in skill building with respect to more comprehensive and relevant treatment planning
